Kids Draw

Each October, AIA Inland California invites children from throughout our communities to participate in Kids Draw, a free and inspiring introduction to architecture and design.

Led by local architects and design professionals, young participants learn basic sketching techniques, explore how architects think and solve problems, and create their own imaginative buildings and spaces.

The event is open to children through middle school and provides a fun, hands-on opportunity to discover how creativity and design shape the world around us.

Architecture for Kids

Architecture shapes the places where we live, learn, play, and connect. Whether you're building a blanket fort, sketching your dream treehouse, or wondering how skyscrapers stand so tall, architecture begins with imagination.

This page is designed for young explorers, students, parents, and educators who want to learn more about architecture, design, and the creative process behind the built environment.

"Every great architect started with a sketch."

Architecture Week

Each April, AIA celebrates Architecture Week, a nationwide opportunity to highlight the impact of architecture and design in our communities. Throughout the week, architects, educators, and industry professionals engage with the public and inspire the next generation of designers, creators, and problem-solvers.

A special focus of Architecture Week is connecting with K–12 students through hands-on activities, classroom presentations, design challenges, and career exploration opportunities. By sharing our knowledge and passion for the built environment, we help young people discover the possibilities of a future in architecture.

We all have a role to play in building the profession's future. Together, we can inspire the next generation of architects and design leaders.

Join us as we celebrate architecture, creativity, and the future of design during Arch Week 2027. Details coming soon!
